SSustainability has gained momentum in society in recent years. As a health insurer and health adviser, Helsana makes an important contribution to the health and wellbeing of the Swiss population. Our ambitions for a sustainable approach to our daily activities and our commitment to society have grown year on year, and are reflected in a wide range of projects in 2021.

Social commitment

2021 was the second year of Helsana’s partnership with the Swiss Red Cross (SRC). As well as first aid, we supported the provision of relief services for family caregivers. Helsana employees also put their hearts and souls into volunteered to help both people and nature, such as by taking part in Caritas mountain rescue operations in Misox and Toggenburg, and in the SRC’s “2x Christmas” campaign.

Helsana as an employer

Recent years have seen Helsana promote employee wellbeing by continuing to sustainably develop its occupational health management (OHM). This has been confirmed by Health Promotion Switzerland, which granted Helsana the “Friendly Work Space” label for the fourth time at the end of October 2021. The UND also again awarded Helsana the “UND Compatibility of Work and Family” rating.

Helsana – diverse and value-based

Diversity and inclusion are an absolute priority at Helsana. We do not rely only on internal benchmarks and programs; we also had our diversity reviewed by St. Gallen Diversity Benchmarking last year. Discrimination, misconduct and abuse are not tolerated at Helsana. Employees may report possible grievances and ethically dubious practices via the web-based “Speak Up” whistleblowing system.
